Monk (Not The TV Show)

This is one of my favourite pictures. As in the ones I took myself.

At a glance, the monk looks like he's floating above ground. The phrase that came to my mind was 'the Lightness of Being'.

This one too. A monk in contemplation.

Just like the rest of us, sometimes :)

Location : Phou Si, Luang Prabang. May 2010.

Interesting Things #99

Look at No. 9.

Does that mean it's allowed if one asks for permission?

Oh, the fixation with No. 9 is because of this man.

And I just realised, today's the 9th!

Respect The Rules : Aerobus LCCT

I think I mentioned once before that I prefer the Aerobus (yellow) to the Skybus (red) for the journey from LCCT-KLIA to KL Sentral.

And after all this while, I only noticed this notice (duh) last month :

:) Ada juga orang like that-kah?

LOMO Pics - UWS Superheadz

I like the last one best. These were taken during my trip to Sukau.

The rest of the pics were too dark. Learning through trial and error :)

The World Through LOMO

I still am not convinced I should get myself an SLR a.k.a. fancy camera.

'Cos I'm (still) so untalented when it comes to using gadgety things like that. I only want one because I want good quality pictures, longer battery life and, well, something else to maybe complement my current p&s while on my travels.

In the meantime, as I remain indecisive, I actually moved along the opposite end of the spectrum and got myself these some time back:

A blue UWS (Ultra Wide Slim) from Superheadz.

An authentic used Russian-made Lomo Smena 8M. It even smells like Russia, kind of. I nicknamed this 'Gorby' :P.

These use 35mm films; remember those days of yore? (No? You can't be that young!) They're fully mechanical/manually-operated. No batteries needed. Just your thumbs and fingers. It's quite fiddly having to load and unload the film, haven't got the hang of it. And that you can't view the pic after you've snapped it was a major getting-used-to.

So far I have only used one roll of film, and now I need to get it burned on to a CD.

Wonder how the pics will turn out.

No Sharp Objects, Please

What else can one do while waiting in the departure hall?

Why, immerse oneself in minute scrutiny of confiscated objects, of course.

I can understand why people hand-carry most of these eventually confiscated items : all types of scissors, pen knives, cutters, razor blades. These I don't quite get : forks, butter knives, nails, 4-inch gold nails (!).

But .. a vegetable peeler?

Why on earth would you carry a peeler in your hand luggage? To peel a potato mid-flight? Huh?

Travel Pics : It Ain't Heavy

I finally found this pic hidden in the deep recesses of my camera's memory card..

Playing silly at the Pavilion, with Royal Selangor's pewter tankard, for their Giant Mug Shot contest.

Off for a jalan-jalan makan trip - happy weekend!

Travel Pics : Signages and Such

When I travel, I usually take pictures of interesting signages and such.

What a testimonial. And to think that they actually put all that on a banner. Funny thing was, the restaurant was rather quiet every time I passed by. Er, excuse me, Mr Shopowner, I think your banners are hiding your entrance.

I want to hang something similar. Naughty monkeys indeed.
'Kera-kera nakal' sounds so .. I don't know.

Why is the 'stick guy' already in the water?
I first thought he was stomping on the catfish, or whatever fish that is.

The only thing missing is the '...Oooops!'

I don't think this will be approved in Malaysia. I should've tried it out.

Very detailed. I like the "Cross With Care".
I actually stopped and 'read' the whole thing before crossing.

It's pictures like these that actually remind me more of each place, rather than pictures of myself :P.

I hope that's normal.

On The Road

I can't help but think that if these roads were in our country, the names would be changed.

I read somewhere that Jalan Pinang in KL was once Jalan Pisang. What's wrong with that? Doesn't look good as an address?

I forgot to take a picture of Kerbau Road.
